Digilib is a highly versatile, Web-based interactive software tool that allows users to work with large image files and fine details of images. Images can be viewed, analysed and annotated with a wide range of tools. An open source software, Digilib is being developed by Dr. Robert Casties of the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin in cooperation with the University of Bern. The image server enables scholars to collaborate via the Web and offers new ways of using and investigating images.
