Instruments of art historical research

The Bibliotheca Hertziana, Max Planck Institute for Art History has a specialist library consisting, at the time of writing, of some 307,000 volumes; the institute’s photographic library contains approximately 831,000 images, making the Hertziana one of the world’s best equipped centres for research into Italian art.
