Opening hours of the Library and Photographic Collection

The Library and Photographic Collection are open Monday through Friday from 9.30 a.m. to 8 p.m. The entrance is at Via Gregoriana 30 and access is possible with a valid user ID card.

Admission to the Collections of the Institute

The holdings of the library and photographic collection are open to qualified researchers only. Candidates must have at least a Ph.D. degree in History of Art or Architecture. In exceptional cases Ph.D. students can be granted temporary admission if they present a letter of recommendation from their academic supervisor and a brief summary of their research project (1 or 2 pages).

User ID cards are issued at Via Gregoriana 30, 00187 Rome, only during the following office hours: Mon. and Tue. 9.30–11 a.m.; Wed. 3–5 p.m. 
Temporary changes of office hours are announced on the main page of this website.

Candidates must present

  • copy of their Ph.D. diploma
  • letter of recommendation from a university, research institute, or academic supervisor on official letterhead
  • completed admission form (see Online Download below)
  • passport or ID card
  • passport-sized photograph.

In order to speed the renewal and issuance of new access cards, we ask guests to consult the terms of use and to bring the completed admission form to the Institute.
