Julia Vázquez received a PhD in Art History & Archaeology from Columbia University in 2020 with a dissertation on the curatorial career of Diego Velázquez, now a book manuscript titled Velázquez, Painter and Curator. Prior to coming to the Bibliotheca Hertziana, she was the Curatorial Fellow for the Marisol Bequest at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and contributing curator to a forthcoming exhibition titled "Marisol: A Retrospective." Previous museum experience includes internships and fellowships at the Musée du Louvre; the Whitney Museum of American Art; the Museo Nacional del Prado; the National Gallery of Art; the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Museo Guggenheim Bilbao, and the Collezione Peggy Guggenheim; and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
