Caterina Martinelli is a PhD candidate in History of Art at the University of Zurich with a research project centered on investigating the sculpture of the Italian artist Mauro Staccioli to identify similar American and European sculptural practices in the 1970s. Taking the Mauro Staccioli Digital Archive study as a basis, her work also aims to examine the current digital instrumentation available for art historical research.
From 2021 to 2023, she was a scientific collaborator at the Bibliotheca Hertziana – Max Plack Institut für Kunstgeschichte, curating a project in collaboration with the Mauro Staccioli Archive and dedicated to the digitization of documentary materials related to the works created by the artist be-tween 1971 and 1988.
Since January 2024, she has been the director of the "Mauro Staccioli Museum Archive" after having collaborated, since 2020, with the Associazione Archivio Mauro Staccioli, dealing with the inventoryng, preservation, and enhancement of archival materials.
