Transnationale Wissenschaftsgeschichte

Ausgehend von der weltweiten Rezeption von Heinrich Wölfflins Kunstgeschichtlichen Grundbegriffen und der laufenden Publikation seiner Gesammelten Werke, begreift dieser Forschungsschwerpunkt die Geschichte der Kunstgeschichte in transnationaler Perspektive als eine Migration von Ideen, Texten und Akteuren. Eine weitere Komponente ist die kritische Reflexion über die Globalisierung historischer und zeitgenössischer Forschungsmethoden und Technologien, wie Fotografien und Bilddatenbanken. Die Auseinandersetzung mit der frühen Forschung zur indischen Kunst führt beispielsweise zu neuen Fragen über Form und Formalismus, die Rolle der geometrischen Abstraktion als moderne universelle Sprache der Kunst sowie über künstlerische Forschung und Kunstgeschichte, die ihre Wurzeln in der klassischen italienischen Kunst und Kunsttheorie haben. Ziel ist es, eine kritische Methoden-, Theorie- und Forschungsgeschichte anzuregen, die die italienische Kunst, Architektur und Kunsttheorie der frühen Neuzeit in den Fokus transnationaler ästhetischer Diskurse und in den Rahmen einer Geografie der Konzepte und Begriffe stellt.
